It is just a job

Your job is just a job. Yes, we all need the money to pay our bill etc etc. However, remember...it isn't your family, your children, your life or your soul.

Having a bad day at work should not cause us to:
- Lose sleep, lose social life
- Lose our appetite, skip meals
- Get stressed, frustrated, irritated
- Or any other negative consequences

I am surprised that very often, these things are done by people because they had a bad day. Yes, they may have a whole series of bad days... But if taken one at a time, it is just a bad day. We have to learn to switch off, relax, not take it so seriously, enjoy life more, put things into perspective.

Get a hobby, get a life. Put your family and health first. Furthermore, there are the holidays to savour e.g. with the upcoming Chinese New Year to look forward to.

The irony is, I myself was recently "infected" with the "take work home with you" bug. It is the norm in my current workplace, I dread it. Work had pile on so much that I always seem to be chasing a moving target.

I have to constantly remind myself to minimize this. And I may just have to think of ways to deal with it - quick lunches, coming in office early etc.

We must learn to work to live, not live to work (even if you love your job). Remember, it is just a job.
